BANGKOK THAILAND - Songkran Festival

Forget about the city life and play water like a kid. That's how Thailand celebrates new year. Songkran Festival or Thai's New year happens every April 13 to April 15. In some parts of Thailand they do it all through out the week. 

Crazy - yes we are! After an hour walk to get in to Kha San road, we finally had a place to eat!

Last April 2014, I was able to experience a one of a kind festival. I felt like I unleashed the childish side of me. I was on the street for three days with my friends to play water fight with everyone. I was told it's gonna be really crazy as people will throw water to and I thought yeah they can't do that to everyone. Well, I was definitely wrong! First day of the festival when I went out to but something to eat I was really shocked when the owner of the hostel I was staying threw a bucket of cold water at me. I want to strangle her for doing it but I had to choice because everyone else experienced it; I was not the only one. 

I don't know what mall we were in but it was amazing. It's somewhere near Route 66 club.

 As a revenge, my friends and I decided to go a store that sells those big water guns so that we can't just let anyone soak us but at least we can shoot them back. Our first day was in Khao San road. The street gone crazy that day and it was very hard to pass through yet we made it. Water fight was overwhelming. All I want that time was to shoot someone with my water gun;satisfaction guarantee. Second day, we went to Silom Road. Crazy as Khao San Road and crowded as you can't even go to the toilet to pee(yeah right, I did it with my pants on.) Not to mention the crazy parties at night during the festival. Only in Thailand I experienced dancing inside a mall wet as I was like taking a bath. Over all, my Songkran Festival experience was impeccable and priceless!

You can rent a motorbike if you want to scroll around BKK to enjoy the festival. It's cheap and very convenient.  You don;t need a license to rent. Just leave your passport to where you going to rent the motorbike and EXTRA careful and vigilant when you drive around Bangkok.

Just an ordinary night in our hostel. De-Talak Hostel - the best and very affordable hostel around Klong Toei Area, near Queen Siriki MRT Station.
